Elegant Category (in)Visibility
As I sat on my ass, scanning through the WordPress code, I noticed two filters for which I didn’t see in any documentation…And this is the result. A simple, elegant, single query means of excluding categories from your blog.
No Longer Supported
I regret to inform those of you looking for help with this or any of my other plugins, that they will no longer be updated or supported. Sorry, but I just don’t have an interest in programming anymore.
What is it and what does it do?
This plugin uses advanced filters to exclude post categories from your blog pages and the WordPress options system to keep track (so it doesn’t add an insane amount of queries).
That’s pretty much it :)
Oh! The menu for this is located under Manage -> “Category (in)Visibility”.

Change Log
- 1.6(.5) (05/??/05) - Various bug fixes.
- (beta) 0.1.5 (05/20/05) - Fixed a few staggeringly lame bugs that completely wrecked functionality.
- (beta) 0.1 (05/19/05) - Initial beta release. If you find any bugs, leave a comment or e-mail at dirty at nmyworld dot com.
Known Issues
- This plugin DOES NOT play nice with the original Category Visibility plugin, so don’t use them together.
- The way in which I detected which page the plugin is called from is kinda weak because WordPress has no way knowing the page before it loads the plugins. For this reason, if you find that you’re getting errors on some pages, let me know pronto so I can sort out the issue (but please include the page on which it was found and any plugins you may be using as well).
